Diabetes touches nearly every aspect of life. It's been said that type 1 diabetes impacts well over a hundred decisions per day, and type 2 diabetes can be just as all-consuming, especially for those that use insulin. Many members of our community divide their lives in two — before and after their diagnosis — because diabetes simply changes everything.
The survey behind this piece found what most of us already knew from waiting rooms: appointments are short, agendas are full, and the things that shape daily life with diabetes — food, movement, the constant decision-making — often don't make the cut. The illustrations had to carry that tension: the gap between what gets measured in clinic and what gets lived outside it.
Very happy to have done this design project with Diabetes Daily.
